Getting Dentures Over Implants Makes Eating and Speaking Easier

If you have implants placed for fixed dentures, it is better to have temporary dentures placed before you get your permanent prostheses.
Implant Dentistry - Why You Should Have Dentures Placed When You Get Implants
When you receive implants, it is more positive to have dentures placed at the same time, as it will give you an opportunity to acclimate yourself to wearing the dentures, including speaking and eating with them. It takes about 6 months for the implants to fuse with the jawbone. Therefore, you won't get your permanent dentures before this time. By taking this approach, you can adjust more easily and make the transition better when you finally get you permanent upgrades.
Eating with Temporary Dentures
Once you receive your implants and temporary dentures, you will have to be careful about eating. Again, at this stage, your implants still must fuse with the bone. This will take about 6 months. During this time, and especially after you get the implants, you need to practice extreme care when eating. Eat soft and nutritious foods, such as scrambled eggs, yogurt, cheese, and soups. Stay away from foods that are hard, crunchy, or chewing.
Speaking with You Temporary Dentures
You can get used to speaking with your new dentures before you receive your permanent dentures, thereby getting a head start on talking with the dentures. To get acclimated to the dentures, practice reading passages out loud and speak slowly. That way, you can get accustomed to speaking and enunciating your words so you can be understood. By taking this approach, you will feel more confident about your new smile.
